Inspiration for writing this book:
BLACK SAMURAI is a “guide on how being culturally sound will open up different worlds to you!” The "Global Footprint" embracing Work, Travel, Culture, Religion, Struggle, & Perspective are the encounters Wayne Erwin Brown illustrates in this book. Mr. Brown’s experience in Japan has left Japanese people with a sense of clarity demonstrated through his educational and work conduct. This includes working for the Japanese Government “Monbusho” Ministry of Education as a participant in the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program, a conversation schoolteacher, an instructor with Doho University, and establishing consulting contracts to work with Panasonic, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Aisin Seiki, Sony, and Casio.
Author's Words:
I have had an incredible and unique journey experienced in living and traveling internationally. Black Samurai expresses the actions of the warrior, scholar, philosopher, poet, spiritualist, and active participant in life. One who is presented with countless challenges and finds means to draw from a collective of experiences and skill sets to bring victory in the situation. I have climbed to the summit of Mount Fuji totaling 14.5 hours, walked along the Great Wall of China, played semi-professional football in Japan, a student of three styles of martial arts, lived a year in a town where I was the only foreigner out of a population of 16,400 people, and all the while of being a student in the classroom and in life. Everyday has brought something new. And although there are many traveling and having an international experience books written, my book stands at the frontier in that it is written from my perspective as a Black American. For every country that I traveled to, I met and exchanged with people. In my own words, I had a good time hanging out and vibing with people. My experience has also been filled with life's challenges. Things weren't always easy, but I tried to make the best out of my situation. "Black Passenger" is an erotic ethnographic memoir exploring in easy lay persons terms, the socio-psychosexual dynamics of Japan. Such are the social dynamics which allows sheer effortless and infinite availability of sex, for black and white men here, placing our erotic capital at immeasurable levels. A phenomenon present in no other country.
"Black Passenger" is also partly a memoir, as it was imperative that I delved into my history and my childhood environment and experiences, which created the predator that I became. Growing up as the only child and the only male on a church commune with some fifty women in an east Kingston ghetto, I consider myself a Black, feminist, sex addicted lesbian, happily trapped in a man's body. Having left Jamaica at 15, I spent 21 years in England and the US, before moving to Japan in 2002—a move motivated completely by my addiction and extreme yellow fetish. Read more.
